Little Guy's Favorite Activity {Wordless Wednesday}

Jumping on the bed with no pants on. Yep. Actually, his very favorite activity is Naked Bed Jumping. He'd win the Olympic Gold Medal in this sport. The shirt is only on because I insisted - it was cold in here!

Hope the leaf is enough... I used Paint to draw a cute little pair of undies, but couldn't figure out how to put them on him. Ended up using Picnik to do the leaf. If anyone could share the link to a good, FREE photo editing site, I'd really appreciate it!

OK - not "camera-creative", but creative just the same. We made these bookmarks with THIS PIN as inspiration.

River of Sticks - These must have been left over from the flooding we had a few months back. The dark area is made up of a 4-inch-thick bed of twigs, dead grass, and seed pods. All of the grass & sticks were pointing in the same direction. Well, either the flooding or miniature aliens...

What We Did Last Week {Wordless Wednesday}

Discovered that art easels can be used as forts!

Designed a puzzle.

Went for a (very cold) twilight walk.

Took lots of naps.

 And...

Created a work of art!

Cousins! {Wordless Wednesday}

 On Sunday, we spent the day at my dad's. Once a year, mt brother, sister, and I are able to all get together at the same time. Little Guy has been so excited to play with his cousins and had me show him pictures of them every day for a week leading up to the party. Now, he hasn't seen my nephew (5 months younger than Little Guy) since last Christmas, so I was a little worried that they might not really know what to do with each other. I was wrong!

With no car, my dad had to pick us up early. My guys watched a movie while waiting for everyone else to arrive.

Two minutes after his cousin got there! You just HAVE to jump on a bed like this.

I can't believe he actually sat long enough to play a game of Go Fish with my niece!

Old Pics! {Wordless Wednesday}

I have a couple of old Christmas pics that I'd love to share. These were probably taken in 1978 or 1979???  I'll never forget that Holly Hobby dress - it was one of my favorites! I had long hair up until a month or so before - when I found my mom's scissors. I was one of those super-curious kids and was into everything all of the time. Just like Little Guy. Karma in its most perfect form, in my parents' opinions!

We spent countless hours playing with my brother's Fisher Price garage. I don't remember playing with the Easy Bake Oven too much. Must have been one of those things that my parents saw the danger in about 30 seconds after setting me loose on it!

See my upper lip? That's the result of me waking up at my aunt's house at 3am and deciding to SHAVE, just like my uncle. At the time this photo was taken, I think it had a month or more to heal. I'm surprised that all I ended up with was a teeny-tiny scar that you can only see in just the right light.

Christmas Activity {Word-FULL Wednesday}

 Last weekend, we visited our county's historical museum. Each year, there are Christmas Trees displayed that have been decorated by the various organizations, businesses, and clubs in the area. Many of the trees were covered with items that would be donated to local charities, such as the ones we saw covered in baby items and socks.

We had to walk rather quickly through the explorer, pioneer, and Native American displays in the museum. Little Guy liked looking, but he longed to touch! He did like checking out the sections with musical instruments from marching bands of eras long gone and the history of the firefighters in the area. We finally made it to the second floor, what our family dubbed "The Custer Show". You see, Gen. George Custer is from our town. I found it kind of weird that a town would celebrate the leader of Custer's Last Stand, but I've since learned that the man had quite an outstanding military record. Um... until that final little faux pas, that is.

So, once we got through the Custer section, we came upon what Little Guy so badly needed - a hands-on section! They had a Civil War Era campsite set up with replica uniforms of various sizes. (They also has a section with women's and girls' clothing from the same time period.)

We had a lot of rain last week, causing the river to jump way above it's normal depth. There was quite a bit of flooding and many road closings for a couple of days. Just so you can see the difference, I've included a photo of what it usually looks like below.

See the bridge in the background? I was standing on that bridge, facing toward the one in the foreground, to take the photos above. Big difference, huh?

Stopped at the park on the way home. It's been a few weeks since we've been there. Turns out Little Guy figured out how to propel himself on the swing like this! No more pushing him every 2 seconds (I think!)

Holiday Parade - Yeas, We Already Had Ours! {Wordless Wednesday}

Last Saturday was the kick-off to the holiday season in our town. We attended a parade, Little Guy visited Santa for the first time, and we ran into a few familiar faces. We came home and warmed up with some hot apple cider, which I put into the crock pot before we left, and Smiley Cookies.

"Bye, Mom!" He was not afraid of these guys AT ALL. In fact, I was kind of cramping his style with all of the picture-taking.


















The picture above is from this year. The one on the right is last year's. Now, if you'll notice, both Buzz and Woody look as if they've been partaking in some of nature's more psychedelic gifts. Now, I thought that someone would have noticed this and done a little work on the costumes for this year. NOPE! So, I had my oldest stand next to Buzz and he gladly obliged with the goofy face for me.

"Hmm, I wonder how many cookies I can grab before anyone notices..."
